I started dancing kathak when I was almost six years old. Kathak is a classical Indian dance. When I dance I spin. I use my hands and feet when I dance. When I dance, our outfits are anarkali–they look like a dress, but you also wear a pant underneath. The last piece of clothing that you wear is called duppata. A duppata is like a scarf that you wear around your shoulder and hip.

When I dance kathak, my feet make help keep the beat of the music and make a drumming sound on the stage. I also wear bells around my feet called ghungroo. They are strings with bells that wrap around my feet. I will write more about this next time. πŸ’ƒπŸ½πŸ§šπŸ»β€β™€οΈ
